Background

Planning Permission

Premplan were contacted to redesign the rear of the ground floor and to maximise the potential of the end of terrace property. The property which was already set over three floors was of a good size but the kitchen was relatively small and felt disconnected from the rest of t he ground floor.

The Approach

We felt the property would be better configured with a utility room in place of the former kitchen and the old conservatory and bat hroom being totally removed and replaced with a brick built 6 meter extension. This new rear extension would comprise the new kitchen dinner, as well as an area for soft seating so that the garden could be enjoyed throughout the year. The roof lights were set back so to utilise the natural daylight, providing good lighting to the existing rooms of the property. Along with this we placed a canopy at the rear of the extension to help moderate the temperature in the summer when the sun is at its highest but allow the low winter sun to provide heating during the colder months.
